Implementation of global and local payment methods in gaming

Implementation of multiple global and local payment methods for a web-based gaming platform.

Javascript, Go, React, TypeScript, gRPC and PostgreSQL

Pley enables mobile game publishers and studios to expand their reach to the web and reap the rewards of increased playtime and higher average revenue per user. They offer a cloud distribution platform that includes hosting, monetization, browser compatibility and cross-platform play, while enabling developers to port their game to the web and easily manage release cycles. Pley makes gaming easier than watching YouTube by allowing games to be played in the browser. No downloads. No installs. No paywalls. Just play. Zero-friction gaming.

Pley is a high growth scale-up and operates in a highly competitive gaming market. The company needed to further develop their technology in a fast pace and required extra development capacity using top engineers. Codepole supported Pley with a nearshore solution adding their resources from Poland to support the main team in Stockholm.

Since the company was delivering games to players worldwide from day 1, it also required payments solutions that suited the players from different countries and continents (more than 50 countries). Our fintech experience was perfect to help with this challenge.

Our task was to build a new payments infrastructure that enables scaling across markets and launching new payment methods fast. We were also tasked with rebuilding and redesigning the checkout funnel to increase conversion rates for purchases.

Some of our tasks included:

  • Rebuilding the payments infrastructure
  • Integration with Adyen payments
  • Implementation of various payment methods for consumers worldwide (incl. Paypal, Google Pay, iDeal, Sofort, Klarna, KakaoPay, AliPay)
  • Solutions for payouts to game studios across the world
  • Implementation of new analytics
  • Redesigning and optimising the purchase flow

Codepole managed to provide me with top quality candidates in short period of time. Their support and hands-on approach throughout the recruitment process were invaluable.
